Gynecologic Surgical Interests

As an obstetrician and gynecologist, the health of the female reproductive system and the management of the childbirth process are my areas of expertise and primary priority. In cases requiring surgery, I successfully perform various surgical procedures with the aim of maintaining the highest level of our patients' health and quality of life.

In this context, the main surgical methods I apply are as follows:

This method, increasingly used in gynecology, is performed with a camera and instruments inserted through small incisions made in the abdominal area.

Areas of Application:

  • Diagnostic laparoscopy (examining the abdominal cavity for diagnostic purposes)

  • Removal of ovarian cysts

  • Removal of fibroids (laparoscopic myomectomy)

  • Treatment of endometriosis

  • Removal of the uterus (laparoscopic hysterectomy)

  • Treatment of ectopic pregnancy

  • Tubal ligation

  • Uterine prolapse surgeries

A method of examining and intervening in the inside of the uterus using a thin camera (hysteroscope) inserted through the cervix.

Areas of Application:

  • Removal of intrauterine polyps

  • Removal of intrauterine adhesions

  • Investigation of abnormal uterine bleeding

  • Removal of intrauterine device (IUD)

The traditional surgical method performed through a larger incision in the abdominal area.

Areas of Application:

  • Removal of large fibroids

  • Advanced stage cancer surgery

  • Emergency situations (e.g., ruptured ectopic pregnancy)

The baby is delivered through an incision made in the abdominal and uterine area.

It is preferred in cases where normal delivery is not possible or is risky.

  • Labiaplasty (inner labia aesthetics)
  • Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening)

Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Screening Tests

Gynecologists may request various tests to evaluate their patients' overall health and specifically the health of the reproductive system, to diagnose diseases, and to determine appropriate treatment methods. The type of tests varies depending on the patient's complaints, examination findings, and the physician's clinical assessment.

Some tests frequently requested by gynecologists:

This is a basic procedure that should be performed on every patient. Your doctor examines the external and internal genital organs (vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries) by hand and visually.

  • Transvaginal Ultrasonography: Provides a more detailed view of the uterus, ovaries, and other pelvic organs with a probe inserted into the vagina.
  • Abdominal Ultrasonography: Pelvic organs and problems such as fibroids or cysts in the uterus can be visualized via ultrasound performed through the abdomen.

A test performed to screen for and detect cervical cancer early. Cells are taken from the cervix and examined under a microscope.

A test conducted to screen for human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer.

Hormone Tests:

  • FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): A hormone that stimulates the ovaries and controls egg production.

  • LH (Luteinizing Hormone): A hormone that triggers the ovulation process.

  • Estrogen: Known as the female hormone.

  • Progesterone: Prepares the uterus lining for pregnancy in the second half of the menstrual cycle.

  • Thyroid Hormones (TSH, T3, T4): Evaluate the function of the thyroid gland.

  • Prolactin: A hormone that stimulates milk production.

  • Testosterone: Known as the male hormone but also present in women.

  • AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone): A hormone indicating ovarian reserve.

These tests are used to diagnose problems related to hormonal imbalances such as menstrual irregularity, infertility, and hirsutism (excessive hair growth).

  • Vaginal Culture: A sample taken from vaginal discharge is analyzed for the presence of fungi, bacteria, or other microorganisms.
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Tests: Tests for infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis.

The Pap smear and HPV tests mentioned above are screening tests for cervical cancer.

If necessary, other blood tests (CA-125, etc.) may be requested for uterine and ovarian cancer.

For pre-pregnancy assessment, your doctor may request tests such as complete blood count, urinalysis, blood type, and infectious disease screening.

During pregnancy, various ultrasound and blood tests (double test, triple test, quadruple test) are performed to monitor the baby's health and development.
