At 10 weeks of pregnancy, significant developments occur in your baby:
- Brain Development: The brain continues to grow rapidly, producing approximately 250,000 new brain cells.
- Nervous System Development: The nervous system continues to develop, and your baby can now move its head, arms, and legs.
- Facial Features: Facial features become more defined. Eyelids are fully formed and closed. Ears are almost in their final shape.
- Arms and Legs: Arms and legs continue to grow and develop. Elbows and knees become more pronounced. Fingernails and toenails continue to grow.
- Internal Organ Development: Internal organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and intestines continue to develop. The intestines start moving into the abdominal cavity.
- Skeletal Development: Bones begin to harden.
- Muscle Development: Muscles continue to develop, and your baby can make stronger movements.
- Genital Development: External genitalia continue to develop, but it may not always be possible to determine the baby’s sex via ultrasound.
