Coronary Interventions
Coronary Angiography: A diagnostic procedure to visualize the heart vessels (coronary arteries). Typically performed by inserting a thin tube (catheter) through the groin or wrist.
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): The general term for procedures used to treat narrowing or blockages in the coronary arteries.
Coronary Balloon Angioplasty: Using a balloon catheter to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries.
Coronary Stent Implantation: Placement of a wire mesh called a stent inside the artery to prevent re-narrowing.
Complex Percutaneous Coronary Interventions: More challenging and specialized coronary procedures such as chronic total occlusion (CTO) opening and left main coronary artery interventions.
Interventions for Structural Heart Diseases
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI): Replacement of the aortic valve via the groin or arm vessels in patients who cannot undergo surgery for aortic stenosis.
Mitral Valve Clip: Joining the mitral valve leaflets by entering through the groin in patients with mitral valve insufficiency.
Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) Closure: Interventional closure of congenital holes in the heart.
Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) Closure: Interventional closure of PFO, which carries a risk of stroke.
Left Atrial Appendage Closure: Closure of the left atrial appendage in patients with atrial fibrillation who have a high risk of stroke.
Interventions for Rhythm Disorders (Electrophysiology Studies)
Electrophysiological Study (EPS): Examination of the heart's electrical activity to determine the type and origin of arrhythmia.
Ablation: Burning abnormal electrical pathways or foci causing arrhythmia via catheter ablation.
Pacemaker Implantation: Placement of a pacemaker to regulate heart rate (temporary or permanent).
Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation: Placement of an ICD to correct life-threatening arrhythmias.
Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT): Implantation of a CRT device to synchronize heart chamber contractions in patients with heart failure and dyssynchronous ventricular contractions.
Peripheral Vascular Interventions
Peripheral Angiography and Angioplasty/Stenting: Treatment of narrowing or blockages in vessels supplying legs, arms, kidneys, and other organs.
Renal Denervation: A treatment method used for resistant hypertension.
