As a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the health of the female reproductive system and the management of the childbirth process are my areas of expertise and primary focus. In cases requiring surgery, I perform various surgical procedures successfully to maintain the highest level of health and quality of life for my patients.
In this context, the main surgical methods I apply are as follows:
This method, increasingly used in gynecology, is performed through small incisions in the abdominal area using a camera and instruments.
Applications:
Diagnostic laparoscopy (examining the inside of the abdomen for diagnostic purposes)
Removal of ovarian cysts
Myomectomy (removal of fibroids)
Treatment of endometriosis
Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
Ectopic pregnancy treatment
Tubal ligation (fallopian tube blockage)
Prolapsed uterus surgery
This method involves examining and performing interventions on the inside of the uterus using a thin camera (hysteroscope) inserted through the cervix.
Applications:
Removal of uterine polyps
Removal of intrauterine adhesions
Investigation of abnormal uterine bleeding
Removal of intrauterine devices (IUD)
This traditional surgery method involves making a larger incision in the abdominal area.
Applications:
Removal of large fibroids
Advanced-stage cancer surgeries
Emergency situations (e.g., ruptured ectopic pregnancy)
This is a surgical procedure used to deliver the baby through an incision made in the abdomen and uterus. It is preferred in cases where normal delivery is not possible or when there are risks involved.
Labiaplasty (Labia aesthetic surgery)
Vaginoplasty (Vaginal tightening)
Gynecologists (Obstetricians) may request various tests to assess the general health of their patients, particularly the health of the reproductive system, diagnose diseases, and determine appropriate treatment methods. The types of these tests vary based on the patient’s complaints, examination findings, and the physician’s clinical evaluation.
Here are some common tests often requested by gynecologists:
This is a basic procedure that should be performed for every patient. Your doctor will manually and visually examine your external and internal genital organs (vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries).
Transvaginal Ultrasound: A probe inserted into the vagina provides detailed imaging of the uterus, ovaries, and other pelvic organs.
Abdominal Ultrasound: Ultrasound performed over the abdomen to visualize pelvic organs and issues such as fibroids or cysts in the uterus.
A test performed to screen for and diagnose cervical cancer early. Cells are taken from the cervix and examined under a microscope.
A test used to screen for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV is the primary cause of cervical cancer.
Hormone Tests:
FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone): A hormone that controls ovarian stimulation and egg production.
LH (Luteinizing Hormone): A hormone that triggers the ovulation process.
Estrogen: Known as the female hormone.
Progesterone: Prepares the uterine lining for pregnancy in the second half of the menstrual cycle.
Thyroid Hormones (TSH, T3, T4): Evaluate the function of the thyroid gland.
Prolactin: A hormone that stimulates milk production.
Testosterone: Although known as a male hormone, it is also present in women.
AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone): Indicates ovarian reserve.
These tests are used to diagnose hormonal imbalances related to issues such as menstrual irregularities, infertility, and hirsutism (excessive hair growth).
Vaginal Culture: A sample is taken from vaginal discharge to check for the presence of fungi, bacteria, or other microorganisms.
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Tests: Tests for infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomonas.
The Smear and HPV tests mentioned above are used for screening cervical cancer.
If necessary, additional blood tests (such as CA-125) may be requested for screening for uterine and ovarian cancer.
Preconception Evaluation: Your doctor may request tests such as a complete blood count, urine analysis, blood type, and infectious disease screening before pregnancy.
During pregnancy, various ultrasounds and blood tests (e.g., dual screening, triple screening, quadruple screening) are performed to monitor the baby’s health and development.
